Hank Greenberg knocked 2 homeruns and Vern Kennedy completed the game without
help from the bullpen as the very strong Detroit Tigers bested the St. Louis
Browns 8 to 3 at Sportsman's Park.

Greenberg was a source of great heartache for the St. Louis faithful all day.
He just kept pounding out hits! He banged out a single which scored a run in
the 1st inning, ripped a solo home run in the 7th inning and launched a
rocket-shot out of the park for a Grand Slam homerun in the 8th inning.
Detroit rapped out 15 hits for the afternoon.

Kennedy(9-7), allowing 3 runs for the game, picked up the victory. Bobo
Newsom(11-14) was given the loss. He was hit hard and gave up 15 hits and 6
walks in 9 innings.

'I had a big day, but there's a lot of credit to go around' Greenberg said.
'We played well together as a team.'
