In the 1st game of today's doubleheader in Detroit, the Cleveland Indians Bob Feller became the 1st pitcher in the AL to win 20 games this season. In a well pitched game by both starters, the Indians scored 2 runs in the top of the 9th on a home run by Ken Keltner to take a 3-1 lead into the bottom of the inning. The Tigers loaded the bases with 1 out and had Hank Greenberg coming to the plate against a tiring Feller. The reliever, Johnny Humphries, walked Greenberg to force in a run and make the score 3-2, but then got Rudy York to hit into a game ending doubleplay to preserve the win for Feller.
