Rudy York slammed 3 homeruns and had 4 RBI as the Detroit Tigers defeated the
Boston Red Sox by the score of 10 to 7 at Fenway Park.
York propelled Detroit to victory. He cleared the fences for a two-run home
run in the 4th inning, lofted a solo-blast 'downtown' in the 6th inning and
blasted a solo shot in the 7th inning. Detroit dominated offensively as they
scored in 6 different innings.
Tommy Bridges(3-3) went 7 innings allowing 6 runs for the win. Lefty
Grove(5-4) ended up with the loss. He was touched for 4 homeruns in his 8
innings of work.
York was jubilant after the game 'Let me see a box-score' he joked, 'I want to
see how that game looks on paper.'
My 1938 MLB asplayed replay is underway. As usual, I'll be trying to manage the Detroit Tigers to an AL Championship. It'll be a tough task this season because of a great NY team along with good Boston and Cleveland teams. The Tigers look to have a very good lineup but the pitching is 'suspect' at best.

1938 AL Game: Det at Bsn
June 4, 1938
The Detroit Tigers have gotten off to a great start on their 13 game east coast road trip. After taking 3 of 4 games against the Yankees in New York the Tigers won a slugfest at Boston's Fenway Park today, defeating Lefty Grove and the Red Sox 10-7. Tiger outfielder Rudy York smashed 3 home runs, good for 4 RBI, and teammate Hank Greenberg added 2 home runs and 3 RBI of his own. Greenberg now has 24 HR on the season and is on a pace to hit 90! He's also on a pace to drive in 199 runs. Detroit currently holds a 4.5 game lead over 2nd place Washington in the AL.
