Paul Derringer threw a complete game shutout at Crosley Field where the
Cincinnati Reds beat the Pittsburgh Pirates by the score of 1 to
0.
Derringer(20-8) looked very much in control throughout the day. He gave up
just 7 hits and 2 walks in 9 innings. Pittsburgh had a chance in the 9th but
they came up short.
Bob Klinger(10-7) ended up with the loss. 'It's a disheartening loss, no
question about it' said Pie Traynor 'But we have to get over it and get ready
for the next game.'
